Story Cube
A story cube is a great way to tell stories together so even if you don’t think it’s something you would feel confident doing- have a go and you will be surprised at what you can create together- let children lead the way with their imagination. The more you use it, the better and more comfortable you get.
How do you use the Story cube?
You will need a normal dice too or if you
prefer you can take it in turns to roll the
cube. We have given you an
example cube you can use as well as a
blank one for you to write your own ideas.
You will need a starting point to your
story….here are some examples:
Once upon a time in a land of ice and snow there lived a….
It was Christmas Eve and there was a tinkling sound…..
It was very busy in the workshop…..the elves were….
Once not long ago there was a snowman
Roll the dice and count around the people you have in your group. Whoever the end number lands on rolls the story cube and adds to the story. This can go on as long as you like and you can decide when the last go is.
You can have some real fun with this so add lots of things to your blank cube to help you.
Perhaps you can write the story down you made together ready for next year? Can the younger members of the family draw pictures to go along with the story?
